This is a lightweight gearbox designed for combining two 500-series motors, to give an output shaft similar to that of a 2.5 in. CIM Motor. It is also designed to have an encoder mounted to it. P...Read More

Love the gearbox, but be sure to double-check that it was assembled properly. As shipped, the nylon spacer on one of ours was on the wrong end of the shaft, causing noise & vibration.

A great alternative to a full CIM installation. The assembly is noisy when running.
Good products. Took to long to get the product. We did not use on 2012 robot. Hopefully we can use it in the future.

Thanks to AM for providing this product. You will want to lubricate and enclose this gearbox to reduce noise and wear. Heat pinion gears before pressing them on the motor shaft.
Well designed and flawlessly built. Needed to add vent holes for RS550 motor.
"I am a big fan of AndyMark products but the CIM-sim has been a little disappointing. The main issue is that there is no opening in the casing that allows air to be pulled in through the fp motor. The fp motor is VERY prone to burning out without ventilation. In our tests so far it has gotten very warm and has hot motor smell. Also there seems to be an excessive amount of play between the hex shaft and the gear."
So far so good. Ontime delivery and parts availability has been excellent.

We threw together a prototype with Fisher Price and the Cim-Sim in about a day. It worked well. Be careful when putting together the gearbox, you need to apply grease and washers to prevent the screws from going to far into the Fisher Price
Poorly engineered with edge of frame resting on back of shaft. Does not include mounting hardware or instructions.
Nice way to make one or two FP motors (or other 500 series motor -- BB motor to pick a source at random) "act like" a CIM. All the gearboxes that use a CIM can not be driven by a 500 series motor (or two). I like the ratio of 5:1. I wish there were more options, but 5:1 is about right for what I wanted. I wish for more. It would be nice to have a 775 Series CIM-Sim. AndyMark was pretty clever in how they made this all work. A lot of chocolatey goodness packed into a pretty compact package. Thumbs up.
Please include 2 keys in this package. I opened the package, found the key, placed it onto the shaft, played with the new CIM-Sim a while, rotated the piece and the key disappeared into the thin air. Now spending time/money to obtain small, 2 mm square by 10mm key. Very Frustrating for small item.
