  • Rivet nuts, aka rivnut, are useful for putting threads in sheet metal or box tubing to attach low load items like panels, and small brackets. The tool threads into the nut, and crimps it on either side of the material, locking it in place. Rivet nuts are especially useful when accessing the backside of the joint is difficult. To use this rivet nut, drill a 25/64 inch bit.

    They can be installed with our threaded insert tool (am-4364).

Works exactly as designed, but be careful!

My team is new to rivet nuts this year. Honestly I only tried to do one myself in a test piece.

I wish I had my team also practice on a test piece before installing them on this year's robot,because if it is a little misaligned, or mis-installed it will either a) be very difficult to attach a bolt that is at an angle or 2) spin in the part that it is attached to - this second error is far worse because it is very difficult to remove a spinning rivet nut!
